Tuesday Finds: ART!

I am right in the middle of moving to my new place, and I’ve got all the big stuff left to go.  The hardest part is packing up the studio, because I don’t want to stop working on cards!  Below you will see some lovely art finds that I will be saving up for to hang in the new place

Studio Inspiration!

I’m still looking forward to moving this weekend, even though I’ve barely started packing.  I guess what I’m really looking forward to is decorating the new place.  I get to have a fresh start with my studio.  Here is some inspiration:

Crazy Nails!

Have any of my blog readers ever had fake acrylic nails?  Do they ruin your real nails?  I’ve never done it before, but I just saw these ridiculous nails on the internet, and…well, just look at them.

Peanut Butter and Apple Sandwich Grilled with Sage Butter

Yum!

Yum!

I made this sandwich for Mark for breakfast this morning, but I’m sure you  could make it for any meal you please.

Sage Butter is something I already had in the fridge.  I decided to start cooking with a butter/olive oil blend that i will share with you.  It’s super simple and you can use it for almost everything.

Sage Butter

1 stick room temperature butter (let it soften out of the fridge so it’s easy to mix)

1/2 cup olive oil

1 tsp. dried sage

Directions:

Just mix them all together in a container, and don’t put it in the fridge yet, because it’s time to make the sammie!

Now for the sandwich:

2 slices 100% whole wheat bread

peanut butter

1 apple peeled and sliced

sage butter

Directions:

1. Spread the peanut butter thinly on both slices of bread.

2. Put a layer of apple slices on one piece of bread, and then put the other piece of bread on top.

3.  Spread a thin layer of the sage butter on both sides of the sandwich.

4. Throw the sandwich on the skillet until it’s slightly brown on one side, and then flip it and brown the other side.

Crochet Stool

These make me want to learn how to crochet!  Watch out, they are pricy, but I’ve always been a fan of DIY!

Getting Ready to Move

Hello everyone!  I have been getting some stuff together getting ready to move, and I wanted to share with you.  We just got rid of our couch, in order to get a better to sleep on couch for guests (including my dad).  While I was searching for a couch, at this great second hand shop, Next to New, I found a few other things too.

Here is my new vintage sea-foam green corduroy couch:

September Goal Meet-up

A

Happy September Everyone!  It’s that time again.  I can’t believe how fast August flew by.  It’s been hot here in Texas, but the relief of temperatures in the 90’s (instead of the 100’s) is feeling good!  I’m feeling optimistic for the rest of 2009.  I’ve been working in the studio a lot this month, and my creative juices are flowing.  I am moving in September, so most of my goals are going to revolve around moving, but before we take a look at the new goals, let’s look back at August.

August Goals

1. APPLY!  Fill out applications to participate in E.A.S.T.Cherrywood Art Fair, and Blue Genie. Well, I got 2 outta 3 done!

2. Work on brand new stuff.  Of course I will still need to work on greeting cards, but would also like to start on some journals, small art, and tote bags.  I definitely started on some new stuff this month, but no journals or tote bags.  I got some stationary, fabric flags, and small art done.  Check out the newest piece added to my shop (and there is more to come):

3.  Design holiday cards and have them ready to be printed.

I made one holiday card design so far, but I’m still interested in making more.

September Goals

1.  Work more with gouache; more holiday card designs and more small paintings.

2. Go through all my stuff to see what I can get rid of.

3.  Pack EVERYTHING.

4. Move everything in to the new place, and get everything put away…by the end of the month (Move in is Sept. 19th by the way).
