The party is from 6ish to 10ish, at which point the partygoers shall head to Jules Buck Jones’ opening at mass, or some other dark drunken haven (elysium?). Friday: Stalemate of the Boozefox at Mass Gallery
Installation by Jules Buck Jones, Drew Liverman, and Scott Eastwood
Opens Friday, April 13 at 10pm
Mass Gallery
916 Springdale Rd (inside the blue theater, by the blue genie and blue hanger)
“This exhibition will be the first and last dramatic reconstruction of the eternal stalemate between the nefarious Boozefox and the U.N.N. Sans Lucas. Despite the tireless attempts by critics, prophets, poets, and historians to adequately depict this seemingly endless struggle for the hearts and minds of Planet Earth’s inhabitants, a sufficient account has yet to materialize. In 1987, out of desperation, the BFIC proposed a fully functional, to scale model of the event in order to provide a very literal window into the conflict. Now, 20 years later, thanks to a generous grant from the LLAP and FUB Foundations, this dream is finally a reality.”
These guys are friends of mine from Richmond, VA. I have been waiting for this for months.

Thursday: Opening Reception @ dberman gallery
dberman gallery: Joseph Phillips & Jared Theis
12 April – 26 May, 2007
Opening Reception Thursday, April 12th 6-8
“d berman gallery presents new work by two artists working in the Austin area, Joseph Phillips and Jared Theis. Each of these artists creates fantastical worlds – one from clay, one on paper. Mr. Theis’ complex sculptural environments are mysterious archeological and biological dwellings influenced by natural forms as well as the mathematics of music. Mr. Phillips creates fantasy amusement parks and other outdoor spaces and exposes and explores their substructures in delicate gouache drawings. Joseph Phillips received a BS in Art and Art History from Skidmore College in New York, and Jared Theis received a BA in Sculpture from The University of Texas at San Antonio.”

Thursday: Clothing Swap at The Opera House
What is The Opera House? It is a cuckoo little vintage consignment shop on S. 1st St run by a sweet li’l lady named Leah. The Opera House is hosting a clothing swap tonight, so bring all of the clothes that you wore last season that don’t fit anymore (if you are like me). I have been to the clothing swap before and found some real gems. Here’s how it works: bring your bag of old clothes to The Opera House at 7pm. Dump the bag out on the designated floor space. Everyone does the same. Dig through a massive pile of clothes and shoes. Find your gems. Hang out with all the cool folks whose old clothes you just took. Hooray for clothing swap!
